The words “love” and “battlefield” are rarely used in the same context (unless of course your singing the wonderful Pat Benatar song at the top of your lungs). But this was different. Humbling in a way, and spoke to me more than I had thought it would.
Visiting a field where war once tainted this beautiful landscape, made me realise just how wonderously blessed we are to call ourselves “free”. Albiet the picturesque views took my breath away, but the mere knowledge that this land is still flourishing regardless of the atrosities that occurred over two hundred years ago.
I forget that little old Australia, really isn’t that old at all. The United States holds so much history and I have loved diving deep and learning all about the battles that took place here. We visited the Saratoga Battlefield with some new found friends and discovered quaint hidden gems in back roads as we drove. We even saw our first wild deer!
The photos above really don’t show the entirety of the beauty we saw while here. But hopefully, this will give you a little glimpse into the breathtaking part of the world we now call “home”.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” – John 8:36
