Clean, washed hair is always best for braiding
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Natalie Ann Hair Care – S1 Powder (or Volumising Root Powder/Mousse)
Clear Elastic Bands
Hairspray (recommend a brush-out hairspray like Evo Builders Paradise)
U-Shaped Bobbi Pins
Wash hair and apply mousse/root lift spray into the rootage and blow-dry smooth.
Section the hair into 3 quadrants with a middle part.
Work from right to left starting behind the right ear and working towards the left ear.
Make sure to keep your braid low and close to the nape of the neck (crown braids don’t look very pretty if they start too high).
Gather your three sections and intertwine each strand by picking up a new piece of hair each time, once from up top, then next from the bottom, and repeat.
Make sure to pivot around the head while braiding.
Now that you have finished the braid, plait the ends and band off with a clear elastic band.
Pull out some soft pieces around the face to curl later.
Complete the crown by laying your plaited ends on top of your crown braid and thread through.
Thread plait through one of the existing loops from the braid and use U-Shaped Bobbi Pins to pin any fly away hairs (see above video).
With two hands, gently pull each piece of the braid out sideways to fan out the braid and accentuate the texture.
Check over your braid and pull out even more depending on what look you are trying to achieve, whether it be more textured or soft and feminine.
Finally, curl the front pieces to soften the look… and you’re done!
